Honeymoon in Palawan: Wildlife Rescue Center

Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (Travel Date: April 24, 2018)

For this post, I will be sharing our visit to Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center. As I have mentioned in my previous posts,  hubby and I went to Palawan for our honeymoon. If you haven't already, you may read our journey by clicking the following links:

This place is a home to crocodiles and other rare wild animals. Here we have seen the efforts of Palawan people to save their rich animal population especially crocodiles whose species have been considered as endangered.

They let people in batch by batch so the place won't be crowded. We waited first in this area, and of course, a little photo op.

Upon entering the lobby, a tour guide welcomed our group and he explained how to maximize our visit in the area, and what to see in the center. He also explained a little history of the place and some "lonely planet-ish" information.

In the lobby, there housed a preserved crocodile skin and bones. It was one of the biggest crocodiles ever captured in the country (and probably in Asia). Then the tour guide also mentioned "Lolong", also captured in the Philippines, who became famous because it's been said that it's the biggest crocodile ever in the whole world. Seeing how huge the preserved crocodile was, I could only imagine how huge Lolong was. Pretty scary, but I felt proud knowing how rich Philippine nature is.

This place is also the sanctuary to thousand crocodiles. Here we saw how they try to populate the crocodile specie in several basins.

In our background, those basins are where they place the little crocodiles. Quite scary knowing soon these babies will turn into monster-like gigantic crocodiles-- but they're still so small that they looked so cute. Ironic, right?
Baby crocs inside the basin

There were also cages and cages of crocodiles in different forms, sizes, and colors. I have to admit I was kind of scared seeing these crocodiles but happy to see the efforts of Palawenios to save these species.
That's one huge crocodile!

More crocodiles!

After seeing the crocodiles, the tour guide let us explore the whole center on our own. Aside from crocodiles, we have also encountered different endangered species and wild animals.

Pumba, is that you?

Leopard! I actually thought it was huge!-- but it was only the size of a cat.
But it's okay. At least I saw a leopard.

Loooooong albino snakes!

This one was so cute!

That's one gorgeous bird! I think I've seen this type of bird in the film "Rio".

More snake!

At the end of the tour, you can have your photo taken with one of the crocodiles. I was so scared but I just couldn't let the opportunity pass. So, I summon up all my courage just to carry one on my own!

This little crocodile was wiggling before the caretaker handed it to me so I was really, really scared at that time.
Thankfully nothing bad happened. They were harmless.

Acting like everything's okay! hhahah

That's all for now.
Next post is our visit to Palawan Museum.

See you in a bit.
Love,

TURNING PAGES: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

When I was in kindergarten, I had a hard time understanding Math specifically the lesson in  “greater than- less than-equal to” equations. My mother, being a teacher, helped me understand the lesson by using analogy . In a manner of storytelling, she told me that the sign corresponding greater than/less than/equal to is  Pacman  (the famous computer game back then), while the numbers in the equation represent the amount of apples . She told me I have to point Pacman’s mouth to the larger amount so he can eat more apples. I never failed at greater than/less than/equal to lesson ever again. SOURCE: h ttp://prekandksharing.blogspot.com/2012/08/montessori-inspired-greater-than-less.html Outliers  by Malcolm Gladwell is a lot like my mom’s way of teaching me Math. It is composed of analogies and stories that helped me understand the wisdom behind success. It will not tell you what to do, it will ask you to analyze the roots of success and w...

My PIERCINGS- Accidents, Stories, Reasons.. etc.

Elow elow elow Dear Reader! So, today, I bought new set of earrings and I realized, I haven't really talked about my piercing experience. So, I thought maybe I should answer some common questions about my piercings and piercing in general. How many piercings do you have? As of the moment, I have a total of six individual piercings. Three on the left ear, three on the right. When did you get them and why? 1. The first pair was done when I was four or five years old. I remember my father bringing me to a little health center and telling me to just tilt my head and that was it. I don't have much to say about this piercing because it was like a "default" kind of thing - sort of a tradition or one of those mandatory things a girl has to go through-  so nothing special in this pair. Also, I was too young to remember how it felt like. Too young to even comprehend. But I remember being happy having the privilege to wear such pretty gold earrings. I had the rest ...

Jazzy Collections Eyebrow Gel

I was doing a little stroll along beauty section when the sales assistant asked me, "Ma'am, ano pong nilagay niyo sa kilay nio, ang ganda kasi e, sanay na sanay kayo magkilay..." "Maam, what product did you use on your eyebrows? You are really good on doing your brows!"  Truth is, I wasn't always this good with brows. I had my fair share of uneven brows, messy brows, overplucked, bushy, wrong shape, wrong curves. But by having those mistakes, I learned how to perfect my brows, I learned by doing, which I think is one of the most important thing when it comes to make-up. You learn every single time you do it. I still do mistakes from time to time, and I am still improving every single day, but I guess that's just the beauty of make-up. Sometimes, you've created a masterpiece, sometimes, you've created a trash... in that way, you enhance your skills. Okay, did I just became very sentimental about eyebrows? Yes, I did. Anyways,  ...

Revlon Stormy Pink

This is gonna be short and sweet just to make up for a long blogging hiatus. I don’t have much luck when it comes to pink lipstick. It’s either wrong shade or wrong formula. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Stormy Pink is no exemption. A friend gave this to me and the color was love at first sight. It was purple-ish, Barbie-like pink tone. But then, after getting a bit tanner because of summer, it ain't BFF with my morena skin tone. Wearing this makes me feel like Nikki Minaj (Boom boorooom boom base!!!). But I think, this is perfect for girls who have pale skin or fairer skin . The formula is just so off. It’s sticky, but not pigmented, and it keeps on sliding on my lips as if I am using a cheap brand lipstick. (To tell you honestly, I am not considering Revlon as a drugstore brand because  it is a bit pricey here in the Philippines.) It has a matte formula so for all you glossy-haters out there, this one's for you. As for me, matte lipsticks are too dr...

Marvellous Monday

I know that Mondays are always greeted with a sigh, especially with most business people, because it is the start of a life battle called "workweek." However, today, I would like to change it a bit by starting a gratitude list pertaining to my previous week full of blessings. This is not bragging since last week is far from being perfect, but I promise myself to stay positive no matter what so I am helping myself to see the beauty rather than contemplate on scars. Payday on  a weekend Road Trip to Marilao, Bulacan Meeting a wonderful author/ Math teacher New bracelet and new top and new earrings (Yey for shopping!) Donuts for my family (Yey for pasalubong!) Coming home with empty laundry basket Very stressful week - purposeful life Sinigang sa miso (panga) at Guilligan's  Going to mass SM Hopping  Farting Partying at Karaoke Hub Little chat with Mama and Kuya Susie's text for me to be Kekay's make-up artist on Saturday Finally seeing ...

Inspired by Mona Lisa Smile: Christian Dior Rouge Dolce Vita 014

Once a gay friend told me, "Red lipstick is so back then." I immediately replied back and told him a true lady would say otherwise. For a real woman, red lipstick is a timeless weapon to look and feel beautiful. My first lipstick is a red one and up until now, even if I have other shades of lipsticks, red will always be on my stash. So, today, I thought of highlighting the most precious red lipstick I own, my precious baby,  Christian Dior’s Rouge Dolce Vita in #014. Timeless as it is, the inspiration for today's lipstick is the movie The Mona Lisa Smile which is set in 1950's. Just like the girls in the movie,  Christian Dior’s Rouge Dolce Vita in #014 is not in-your-face retro red lipstick because it has a slight hint of orange. Source "That's a snapshot"- Mona Lisa Smile It has a semi-matte finish but very creamy, it glides smoothly on the lips when applied. This is not for the faint heart because it is too striking and...
