Pieces of my Month: AUGUST 2015

Last year, I did some kind of a monthly gratitude list wherein I gather all images of important happenings in my life for that certain month. I never get to do that this year so I am planning to do it once more. It has helped me to become more positive in life even though I have been struggling with lots of things and that my life is too far from being perfect. Also, I want to realize that there are certain things I need to be grateful for because sometimes I am not able to see good things happening around me. So in accordance of my "coming back to blogging" thang and because this is also part of my birthmonth celebration, I am listing down some pieces of my August.

Big part of my month is the celebration of my birthday with my family. We went to VIKINGS, a luxury all you can eat buffet. It was my first time there and I was just so happy to be with the whole family because I guess it was a rare chance that we get to eat out together as a whole.

Being a Viking suits me pretty well, don't you think?

This month is also the very month where I got to sing in front of the crowd once more. Music is my element. I feel so close to God whenever I get to sing. I pray I get to do more of this.

When I was in kindergarten, I had a hard time understanding Math specifically the lesson in “greater than- less than-equal to” equations. My mother, being a teacher, helped me understand the lesson by using analogy . I'm still surprised when friends won't believe when I tell them my hair is naturally curly and that I never had a digi perm or any curling method done. People have been seeing me with rebonded straight hair for the past 12 years, (I thought it was only 10) and they have kind of believed my hair is naturally straight. Living in a country where straight hair rules, finding a good styling product for the curly hair is such a pain in the ey-ess-ess. I am not so much of a patriotic kind but the recent devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan led me to care about my country, the Philippines. We weren't directly hit by the storm surge since we are living far from Tacloban City but I felt really involved in this massive tragedy. Days before Yolanda came, different warnings were announced regarding the typhoon. We were told to keep safe. I also remembered listening to different guidelines on how to survive the typhoon. November 8 came, it was a Friday. I've read from social media sites that Yolanda officially entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. There were heavy rains here in Manila but it wasn't too strong to kill a person but I've seen some "personal" videos posted on the Internet on how strong the typhoon was in other parts of the country.
