NOTD: Bride and Bridesmaids

This post will be photo heavy so beware. Anyways, been wanting to try out some nail stickers but I am not really sure why I haven't had the chance to actually buy and put them on my nails.  However, a visit to a craft store led me to find these cute flowers so I thought of giving these stickers a try. I like them actually. What do you think? These nails remind me of my brother's wedding which I actually attended as the maid of honor... I am the girl next to the bride... and as the wedding singer as well... Me and my Marvellous Man So, here's my nails again for your viewing pleasure. That's all for now. I promise to tell you more next time. Bye!

NOTD: Mint and Pepper

Few days have passed since the horror of typhoon Yolanda, everyone is slowly regaining the strength in order to rebuild whatever the storm has destroyed. So, I guess this is the best time to post a happy green polish to give some happy vibes to our grieving nation.. green is the color of hope after all. This design reminds me of mint and pepper. What do you think? That would be all for now... short, happy... and yes, hopeful... =)

Pray for the Philippines

I am not so much of a patriotic kind but the recent devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan led me to care about my country, the Philippines. We weren't directly hit by the storm surge since we are living far from Tacloban City but I felt really involved in this massive tragedy. Days before Yolanda came, different warnings were announced regarding the typhoon. We were told to keep safe. I also remembered listening to different guidelines on how to survive the typhoon. November 8 came, it was a Friday. I've read from social media sites that Yolanda officially entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. There were heavy rains here in Manila but it wasn't too strong to kill a person but I've seen some "personal" videos posted on the Internet on how strong the typhoon was in other parts of the country. I got scared. The next morning, weather in Manila was perfect. It was windy and sunny at the same time. I remembered staying in our terrace and ...

Tragedy after Tragedy

My heart is breaking right now that no amount of manicure can ever heal. I thought of creating a nail of the day post (since this is what this blog is all about) but then it pains to see my countrymen face tragedy after tragedy that I feel a need to set aside a polish post and to really share what I feel and see around me. As of this writing, my lovely country, the Philippines, is under national calamity because part of the Philippines suffered from the super typhoon Haiyan. Prior to the typhoon, the country also bear magnitude 7 earthquake, heartbreaking terrorism in Zamboanga, and the additional issue of pork barrel scam. Millions have suffered and we Filipinos have suffered enough. There is no room for laughter. Any amount of fun is a sign of insensitivity. It is not easy to watch the news without crying because you see your country being whipped from head to toe and you feel so bruised and battered. Amid all these things, I see greatness here and there. Different fund raising p...

Marvellous Man's Choice: The Face Shop BL601

I have a story to tell about The Face Shop BL601 nail polish   from their Lovely Me Ex Nail Polish Line. While we were at The Face Shop SM North branch, I asked Marvellous Man to choose a nail polish color for me. Being a guy, he chose a dark navy blue nail polish. I tested the color on his fingernail. I wasn’t into blue nail polish at that time so I didn’t buy it (I bought  The Face Shop RD 303 3 instead). But then, I keep on thinking of that beautiful blue nail polish and I told myself I must definitely go back and buy it. The Face Shop BL601 in all its glory... So, after a month or so, Marvellous Man and I went back to The Face Shop store. I again tested the color of BL601 on his fingernail just to see the color once again. By this time, I fell in love. I took one bottle and went straight ahead to the counter to finally own this lovely polish. Then, after two days, I went to Marvellous Man’s place, and he was doing his laundry. (Yes, men do th...

NAIL PARAPHERNALIA: New Things to Try

This might come as a shock but I am a former nail biter. It is pretty ironic that this girl who loves to blog about nails is a former nail biter. Funny right?  Basically, I just realized that the cause of my disgusting habit is my addiction to my nails. So, instead of pricking on my nails, why not turn it into something positive and make my nails pretty instead? So, as I dove into colorful world of nail arts, and since I've just started to become a nail blogger, I am also slowly opening myself up to some manicure paraphernalia.  Nail Stickers, I like it subtle and classy 1. Nail Stickers. I am not a fan of nail stickers. I bought this one because I just want to try it out and if maybe I will like it. This one stood out because it looks subtle and I felt it would look great on top of a white nail polish. I actually tried it once and I must say it is okay but I am still not so obsessed with it.  --- Flocking Powder, husband of glitters, acco...

EOS Lip Balm, Overrated?

I was looking at old photos in my computer and I saw these cute pictures of EOS Lipbalm and I remembered how much I love this product but I shelved it for various reasons. EOS and I had some good times, you know. I enjoyed the days when kissing it feels fruity on my lips. But then, I have slowly fallen out of love from it. It wasn't because it was a horrible product but because it didn't last on me and I think there’s so many lip balms out there that offers better service than just cute packaging and fruity taste.  Let me give you the details of our love story. This product became popular last year because of its cute packaging. So many beauty gurus raved about it but lately, it has been categorized under overrated product list. (Source) It got me into thinking if EOS lip balm is really an overrated product. Why did I shelved this product anyway? I remembered it was a year ago when I got my EOS lip balm in strawberry sorbet. Believe you me, I was so freaki...

Cute Wearable Nail Art Designs

Nail art is definitely a trend these days especially the DIY-able ones. (I just read the word DIY-able somewhere in the Internet and I just really want to use it though I am not sure if it is really a word.) Years ago, the word " nail art " is often connoted to an over-the-top manicure that somehow scares other girls and not for the faint heart. It used to be very intricate and complicated that not all girls can wear such for everyday. However, lately, simple and cute nail arts are winning the hearts of many girly girls out there (including yours truly). Nail arts have now evolved from being so unwearable to cute wearable ones. Some of the nail art designs that you can try doing now are these two famous designs. 1. Flower Nails a. Choose a base color ( I used a light pink polish.) b. If you don't have a dotting tool, you can use toothpick, match or an old ball point pen. c. Put five dots for petals. I used red for a beautiful red flower. To create t...

Inspired by Legally Blonde: Pink and Marvellous

Since this blog is unexpectedly becoming a nail fetish den, I would like to give you yet another nail design inspired by a movie. Just on my previous post, I was talking about Miss Elle Woods and her affirmation that a manicure makes a girl feel better no matter what (although technically, it was her friends who told her that). It was a funny affirmation but there is truth to it. So, today, I thought of dedicating this pink nail design to Miss Elle Woods, our Legally Blonde. . I was a young high school girl when I first saw the movie Legally Blonde and it is one of my favorite movies back then. I also made a high school movie review for our English subject. That's how I love this movie. Miss Elle Woods is definitely a pink girl, thus the pink nails. I add some pink animal print to the design because she is a certified pet lover to her lovely dog, Bruiser Woods, and she really loves to accent her strike on pink environment with a pink animal print. She also doesn'...

AT LEAST I CAN STILL SEE: Living Life through Amblyopia

All my life, people thought I am just banlag (squint) or someone who has a scar on her right eye. What some people do not know exactly is that I am almost blind. After thousands of eye tests to different ophthalmologists and optometrists, mine is a rare condition called Amblyopia (also known as lazy eye) coupled with color-blindness. Let us first start with my right eye. If you will look closely into my cornea, it has this white scar that originated by birth. If I will only use my right eye and let my left eye be closed, I will see everything in blur. Because of an inborn scar, there is a small white cast blocking my right eye, I cannot see the details of an image. I only see a vision, a blur, a shape. For example, if there is a calendar in front of me, looking only through my right eye, I would only see a white rectangle with dots and some lines. Imagine watching TV with white sheer cloth in front of your eyes-- that's the perspective of my right eye. God must have pi...

My Birthday Shenanigans : ABS-CBN Tour and ASAP Live

August is my birthday month so instead of doing my usual "Pieces of My Month" series, I decided to make it more special by doing series of posts called "My Birthday Shenanigans." I know that this has been an overdue post as we are already running through "BER" months, but as I have said before, it is better to post late than never. Anyways, one of the major things I did during my birthday was to take a tour around ABS-CBN studio.  ABS-CBN is the largest broadcasting network in the Philippines as far as I know. So, if you are living in the Philippines, there is no way you do not know what ABS-CBN  is. It has produced tons of television shows, entertainers, artists, broadcasters, movies, etc. My brother and my sister-in-law (who was also celebrating her birthday that day) were kind enough to invite me to join them in seeing the "behind the scenes" of TV production.  OUTFIT OF THE DAY: White Blouse Aztec Skirt Black Shoes Messeng...

Revlon Stormy Pink

This is gonna be short and sweet just to make up for a long blogging hiatus. I don’t have much luck when it comes to pink lipstick. It’s either wrong shade or wrong formula. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Stormy Pink is no exemption. A friend gave this to me and the color was love at first sight. It was purple-ish, Barbie-like pink tone. But then, after getting a bit tanner because of summer, it ain't BFF with my morena skin tone. Wearing this makes me feel like Nikki Minaj (Boom boorooom boom base!!!). But I think, this is perfect for girls who have pale skin or fairer skin . The formula is just so off. It’s sticky, but not pigmented, and it keeps on sliding on my lips as if I am using a cheap brand lipstick. (To tell you honestly, I am not considering Revlon as a drugstore brand because  it is a bit pricey here in the Philippines.) It has a matte formula so for all you glossy-haters out there, this one's for you. As for me, matte lipsticks are too dr...

My PIERCINGS- Accidents, Stories, Reasons.. etc.

Elow elow elow Dear Reader! So, today, I bought new set of earrings and I realized, I haven't really talked about my piercing experience. So, I thought maybe I should answer some common questions about my piercings and piercing in general. How many piercings do you have? As of the moment, I have a total of six individual piercings. Three on the left ear, three on the right. When did you get them and why? 1. The first pair was done when I was four or five years old. I remember my father bringing me to a little health center and telling me to just tilt my head and that was it. I don't have much to say about this piercing because it was like a "default" kind of thing - sort of a tradition or one of those mandatory things a girl has to go through-  so nothing special in this pair. Also, I was too young to remember how it felt like. Too young to even comprehend. But I remember being happy having the privilege to wear such pretty gold earrings. I had the rest ...

Curly Find: Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse

Living in a country where straight hair rules, finding a good styling product for the curly hair is such a pain in the ey-ess-ess. For the past few months, I've been experimenting on different hair products, mixing and jumbling all sorts of creams, mousse, gels, etc etc. Product after product, layers after layers.  I honestly sometimes feel like going back to straight hair is way easier and economical, than spending so much money on hair products, but then I do love my current buhahag hairstyle- I feel some sense of uniqueness and personality with this kind of hair- so I think I wold just go on with this journey and just enjoy every part of it. So, today, I thought I would share my experience with this Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse.  This is by far, my favorite mousse cream for my curly hair. Let me tell you some of my opinions regarding this product.  1. SMELL - Oh. Goodness. I love the smell of this one right out of the can. This is...

My Pabebe Waves

My Pabebe Waves -- and I am not even talking about #aldub. (Sorry for the pun, I am just a fan! Oh- it rhymes! Silly me.) Anyways, I am referring to my curls and how I respond to their "pabebe" nature. You see, ever since I decided to just let my curly hair shine through, I've been getting a lot of questions as to whether I had a perm . They're a bit shocked when I answer them with a resounding "NO" and revealing them of the truth I have once concealed...that is,  I am born with curly hair. I admit I hated my curls before. I was one of those traditional Filipina who has the feels for long black straight hair (blame it on shampoo commercials.) So, for more than ten years, I did my best to conceal my curls by diligently going to the salon to have my hair rebonded. I have become successful in hiding my own curls. You see, I did deceive the people around me, even my boyfriend. This is a selfie I took a day before I chop my hair off. At this poi...
