Curly Find: Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse

Living in a country where straight hair rules, finding a good styling product for the curly hair is such a pain in the ey-ess-ess. For the past few months, I've been experimenting on different hair products, mixing and jumbling all sorts of creams, mousse, gels, etc etc. Product after product, layers after layers.  I honestly sometimes feel like going back to straight hair is way easier and economical, than spending so much money on hair products, but then I do love my current buhahag hairstyle- I feel some sense of uniqueness and personality with this kind of hair- so I think I wold just go on with this journey and just enjoy every part of it.

So, today, I thought I would share my experience with this Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse.  This is by far, my favorite mousse cream for my curly hair. Let me tell you some of my opinions regarding this product.

1. SMELL -
  • Oh. Goodness. I love the smell of this one right out of the can. This is the best-smelling mousse I've tried so far. Gosh. It smells like freshly-washed hair. I commend Dove for making their products so fragrant! Although, at some point, few hours after application, it does smell like a rusted can or a chemical burning somewhere.

2.  CONSISTENCY -
  • Very similar to a whipped cream. Other mousse tend to be on the watery side, but not this one. It upholds to the term "whipped cream".

3. USAGE / RESULTS
  • Lemon-sized amount for each side of the hair.  I use this after putting a bit of Monea curl defining milk lotion on my hair.
  • If you use this after and/or together with curl defining milk lotion, it will act as a gel and it can hold curls up to four hours. Putting too much will harden the hair (just like that of a gel) so use it sparingly if you don't want stiff hair.
  • Use this alone (and sparingly), it will create soft airy curls without much definition.

4. PRICE + AVAILABILITY
  • 300plus pesos at Watsons (or any other beauty store nationwide)

All in all, I think this is a great product. I love it, actually.
But, I am still on the look out for the best out there in the market. I do feel like there is still better product than this. But then, I'm happy this product did not fail me miserably.

One thing to point out though is that there is no one kind of curly hair so this product works differently on different people. It works differently everyday even on my hair. Also, be mindful of the condition of your hair, humidity, pollution, lifestyle etc.etc.So, basically, the results may vary.

Oh,and before I forget, if you are like me who loves to bring hair product on her bag, you might hate this one because the cap is always always coming off.  Because of this defect, the nozzle has huge tendency to break, just like mine and I wasn't able to finish all the product in the can  -- such a waste of money.

And of course, just like the rest of my reviews, I will leave you all with a little narcissist selfie. This is me few hours after applying Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse on my curly hair. I did not use any hai rstyling product on this pic, btw, just the Dove Mousse.

By the way, can please comment down below about your favorite hair styling product? I am really into hair phase right now and I would be very glad if you could recommend some wonderful products you've tried so far. And if you are like me who is on the curly side, can you suggest any hair product that I can use? Or your hair routine, maybe? I would really like to know and hear from you, I hope you can help me on my quest to find the perfect product for my hair.

Okay. So, that's just about it.

Thank you for droppin by my little web place.
See you on my next post.

Mwah~!!!

TURNING PAGES: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

When I was in kindergarten, I had a hard time understanding Math specifically the lesson in  “greater than- less than-equal to” equations. My mother, being a teacher, helped me understand the lesson by using analogy . In a manner of storytelling, she told me that the sign corresponding greater than/less than/equal to is  Pacman  (the famous computer game back then), while the numbers in the equation represent the amount of apples . She told me I have to point Pacman’s mouth to the larger amount so he can eat more apples. I never failed at greater than/less than/equal to lesson ever again. It is composed of analogies and stories that helped me understand the wisdom behind success. It will not tell you what to do, it will ask you to analyze the roots of success and what lies behind the equation

Kulot Not Salot: My Curly Hair Routine

I'm still surprised when friends won't believe when I tell them my hair is naturally curly and that I never had a digi perm or any curling method done. People have been seeing me with rebonded straight hair for the past 12 years, (I thought it was only 10) and they have kind of believed my hair is naturally straight. And frankly, I, too, have forgotten how I looked like with curly hair. I have to rummage a box of old photos to help me remember how my curls looked like a decade ago and why do I even have it straightened. Was it that bad? After almost an hour of looking for old photos of my natural curls- this I realized to my chagrin - I rarely wore my curly hair down when I was a teenager. That was basically the reason why I had my hair rebonded. I did not know what to do with my curls. I did not know how to maximize my curls, its beauty, how to style it, how to play with it. And also- hair entails personality. You see, living in this country,

Review: In2it Waterproof Single Blush in Charm

This post is dedicated to my boyfriend's sister who loves to rave about in2it products. She loves the brand so much she's literally into it. (Can I get an A for that intro?) Anyways, one of the things I noticed about her is the beautiful shine she has on her cheeks - not greasy type of shine - but a lovely flash of highlight. So, I thought of trying out in2it's blush for the first time. When I went there, most of their blushes were sold out. The sales assistant said their blushes are their best sellers- no doubt about it. So, I asked her what shade can she recommend for my skin tone and she confidently suggested the shade "Charm." I tried out some of their blushes, pink ones in general, but Charm really stood out for me. The sales assistant was right, Charm definitely suites me better. In2it Waterproof Single Blush in Charm is a peach blush with gold shimmers. I, for one, am afraid of shimmers because my face tends to become very oily and to add more shi

Inspired by Mona Lisa Smile: Christian Dior Rouge Dolce Vita 014

Once a gay friend told me, "Red lipstick is so back then." I immediately replied back and told him a true lady would say otherwise. For a real woman, red lipstick is a timeless weapon to look and feel beautiful. My first lipstick is a red one and up until now, even if I have other shades of lipsticks, red will always be on my stash. So, today, I thought of highlighting the most precious red lipstick I own, my precious baby,  Christian Dior’s Rouge Dolce Vita in #014. Timeless as it is, the inspiration for today's lipstick is the movie The Mona Lisa Smile which is set in 1950's. Just like the girls in the movie,  Christian Dior’s Rouge Dolce Vita in #014 is not in-your-face retro red lipstick because it has a slight hint of orange. Source "That's a snapshot"- Mona Lisa Smile It has a semi-matte finish but very creamy, it glides smoothly on the lips when applied. This is not for the faint heart because it is too striking and

Where Have I Been

I can't believe I am here again typing for another blog post. I thought I am so over blogging that I never thought of going back a year later. My last post was 2018 and even then, my posts are not that regular. So why go back? Because when I looked back at what I have posted, I realized blogging has helped me in some way to document my life. I admit I wished I could have posted more. I guess I was so focused on what to write rather than on why I write. This time I want to blog for my own self expression and documentation. That is, after a year of hiatus, I realized that the best audience I could have is my future self. Looking back at my posts made me realize life is amazing and will continue to be amazing if we only know what to look for. Some posts are outdated- yes. But they remain to be true. I guess blogs are still the best way to look at yourself, be vulnerable to your unknown readers and just let your ideas flow.  Who cares if no one reads them? Few years from now yo

Honeymoon in Palawan: Bakers Hill, Buttterfly Garden, Immaculate Conception Cathedral

So, after two days spent in El Nido Tour A , Tour C , and the ever famous Underground River, we continue our Palawan escapade via our rented motorcycle. After Mitra's Ranch , we went to Baker's Hill, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, and Butterfly Garden.  This is one of the several posts I made about our Trip to Palawan. Later did I know that it is actually a theme park with bakery inside.  BUTTERFLY GARDEN One of my favorite attractions in Puerto Princesa, Butterfly Garden is the home to hundre
