NOTD: Bride and Bridesmaids

This post will be photo heavy so beware. Anyways, been wanting to try out some nail stickers but I am not really sure why I haven't had the chance to actually buy and put them on my nails.  However, a visit to a craft store led me to find these cute flowers so I thought of giving these stickers a try. I like them actually. What do you think? These nails remind me of my brother's wedding which I actually attended as the maid of honor... I am the girl next to the bride... and as the wedding singer as well... Me and my Marvellous Man So, here's my nails again for your viewing pleasure. That's all for now. I promise to tell you more next time. Bye!

NOTD: Mint and Pepper

Few days have passed since the horror of typhoon Yolanda, everyone is slowly regaining the strength in order to rebuild whatever the storm has destroyed. So, I guess this is the best time to post a happy green polish to give some happy vibes to our grieving nation.. green is the color of hope after all. This design reminds me of mint and pepper. What do you think? That would be all for now... short, happy... and yes, hopeful... =)

Pray for the Philippines

I am not so much of a patriotic kind but the recent devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan led me to care about my country, the Philippines. We weren't directly hit by the storm surge since we are living far from Tacloban City but I felt really involved in this massive tragedy. Days before Yolanda came, different warnings were announced regarding the typhoon. We were told to keep safe. I also remembered listening to different guidelines on how to survive the typhoon. November 8 came, it was a Friday. I've read from social media sites that Yolanda officially entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. There were heavy rains here in Manila but it wasn't too strong to kill a person but I've seen some "personal" videos posted on the Internet on how strong the typhoon was in other parts of the country. I got scared. The next morning, weather in Manila was perfect. It was windy and sunny at the same time. I remembered staying in our terrace and ...

Marvellous Man's Choice: The Face Shop BL601

I have a story to tell about The Face Shop BL601 nail polish   from their Lovely Me Ex Nail Polish Line. While we were at The Face Shop SM North branch, I asked Marvellous Man to choose a nail polish color for me. Being a guy, he chose a dark navy blue nail polish. I tested the color on his fingernail. I wasn’t into blue nail polish at that time so I didn’t buy it (I bought  The Face Shop RD 303 3 instead). But then, I keep on thinking of that beautiful blue nail polish and I told myself I must definitely go back and buy it. The Face Shop BL601 in all its glory... So, after a month or so, Marvellous Man and I went back to The Face Shop store. I again tested the color of BL601 on his fingernail just to see the color once again. By this time, I fell in love. I took one bottle and went straight ahead to the counter to finally own this lovely polish. Then, after two days, I went to Marvellous Man’s place, and he was doing his laundry. (Yes, men do th...

Cute Wearable Nail Art Designs

Nail art is definitely a trend these days especially the DIY-able ones. (I just read the word DIY-able somewhere in the Internet and I just really want to use it though I am not sure if it is really a word.) Years ago, the word " nail art " is often connoted to an over-the-top manicure that somehow scares other girls and not for the faint heart. It used to be very intricate and complicated that not all girls can wear such for everyday. However, lately, simple and cute nail arts are winning the hearts of many girly girls out there (including yours truly). Nail arts have now evolved from being so unwearable to cute wearable ones. Some of the nail art designs that you can try doing now are these two famous designs. 1. Flower Nails a. Choose a base color ( I used a light pink polish.) b. If you don't have a dotting tool, you can use toothpick, match or an old ball point pen. c. Put five dots for petals. I used red for a beautiful red flower. To create t...

NOTD: Caronia Bonanza Tip

I rarely go to salon to have my nails done professionally because: a. I love doing my own manicure/pedicure because cleaning my nails is somehow a therapy to me.  b. I don't really like how manicure is being done here in the Philippines where they cut the cuticles and sometimes they even cut the skin until it bleeds. c. I have this uneasy feeling when someone is using lots of tools on me (as that of a dentist).  d. I had a trauma years ago on my right ring finger and though the whole thing was my fault, I don't want to gamble on nail technicians who have the possibility to redo the horrible scenario e. I would rather spend the money on a nail polish  But then, one day, I was feeling a little iffy about my nails because: a. I didn't like the way I shaped them, b. I didn't like the way I put nail polish, and  c. I didn't like the harsh edge on the side of my nails.  So, I decided to spare myself of uneasiness and went to the neare...

Inspired by the Glitter Sale

As of this writing, I just came home from a little retail therapy at Trinoma. I went straight to Landmark nail polish section and I saw a lot of girls are piling up in front of a table. Out of curiousity, I checked it out and realized they have this promo: "Free Application for every 100 pesos nail art supply you bought." WOW! That's a good deal I suppose since I am really planning to buy some nail art thingies anyways. Then, I saw two girls who are having their nails done and I must say they really look so pretty so I decided to try it as well. "Yes, I have touched glitters in the last 24 hours... but it doesn't mean I'm not strong, or tough and strong..." - Ms. Jessica Day, New Girl I chose turquoise glitters because I saw this girl in the table and her nails are in turquoise so I decided to do the same for my nails. They look so freaking beautiful. The attendant first put OMG Nail Polish in Mojito my nails, then she just simply dip my n...

Inspired by Zooey's Orange Nails: THE FACE SHOP LOVELY ME: EX PAINT NAILS in RD303

Hey, Marvellous! Today, I’m gonna be sharing with you this nail polish coined as  THE FACE SHOP LOVELY ME: EX PAINT NAILS in RD303. (That's mouthful!) The inspiration for this polish is the reddish-orange nail polish worn by Zooey Deschanel in the episode 19 of her sitcom New Girl Season 2. I keep looking at her reddish-orange nails while watching the show so I said to myself I must get me an orange-red nail polish. It looks a bit like bloody red nails in this snapshot, but it is more of deeper orange in the entire show. I know, I know, nail polish again. Well, I am definitely at nail polish phase, wherein painting nails is therapeutic and inhaling nail polish fume is nothing but smelling scent of aroma. I just love nail polishes, obsessed even.   You see, I hate seeing chips and cracks on my nail polish. So, every time I would see a little chip, I would erase the polish on that particular fingernail and repeat the whole process from base coat to nail poli...

Inspired by The Great Gatsby: Golds and Glitz

My brother and I were talking about the film "The Great Gatsby" and it's quite amusing how we both have different views regarding the said movie. I liked the movie a lot, he thinks otherwise. He said the movie is quite mushy for his liking. I really liked the movie because it has shown a glamorous but empty life of a social climber who cannot be satisfied by his present because he is driven by his past and imaginary future.  So today's nail design is inspired by this movie where there's lot of golds and shimmers all throughout the entire movie. Aside from the plot, what I like about the movie is the usage of color to represent the character and the scene. Since this is a movie about money and social statuses, gold and glitters are definitely the best elements to represent The Great Gatsby. Here's how to do this easy nail design: 1. Use a good base coat to protect your nails. Here, I used  Bobbie Base Nail Hardener. 2. Put any gold nail...

Inspired by a Preggy: LA Colors Palm Tree

LA Colors Palm Tree is dedicated to my current obsession with the color green. I don’t know what’s with this particular shade but every time I would see a color green, I would automatically push the “I like” button. Is it because I have a pregnant friend who loves green so much and she passed it unto me? Did you follow the logic behind that superstition? Well, Filipinos have this belief that a pregnant girl can pass her cravings to someone she’s so fond of like her husband or her close friend. So, sometimes, I really do think, she’s passing her green cravings unto me. I digress. Going back to LA Colors Nail Polish in Palm Tree, this product is a lovely pastel green color with no shimmer whatsoever. Although this color falls under pastel green, it is not as shocking as other pastel colors like violet or blue. It surprisingly doesn't look so ostentatious on my nail and somehow falls under neutral color polish.  So, if you are looking for a wearable green polish, this one should...

Inspired by Cotton Candies: OMG Nail Polishes

I confess, I am such a sweet tooth. I crave for anything sweet like chocolates, cake, candies, and chocolates! Did I say chocolate twice? So, forgive that the nail of the day is something I call “cotton candy” because the colors remind me of cotton candies sold in front of churches. Source My nails look' really sweet!!!   This pink and yellow combo is my take on the different-color-on-the-ring-finger trend and surprisingly I love it. This is my first time to shy away from the norm because I am more of one-color-polish type of girl. This combo grew close to me that I took hundred of photos of them. They look so cute in person, I can’t help but to keep on staring at them.  The polishes I used are from OMG. Yellow one is OMG Banana Boat and the other one is OMG First Date . I saw these nail polishes in a convenience store and I just thought they look so cute standing side by side with each other. After trying both of these polishes, here's what I ca...

My PIERCINGS- Accidents, Stories, Reasons.. etc.

Elow elow elow Dear Reader! So, today, I bought new set of earrings and I realized, I haven't really talked about my piercing experience. So, I thought maybe I should answer some common questions about my piercings and piercing in general. How many piercings do you have? As of the moment, I have a total of six individual piercings. Three on the left ear, three on the right. When did you get them and why? 1. The first pair was done when I was four or five years old. I remember my father bringing me to a little health center and telling me to just tilt my head and that was it. I don't have much to say about this piercing because it was like a "default" kind of thing - sort of a tradition or one of those mandatory things a girl has to go through-  so nothing special in this pair. Also, I was too young to remember how it felt like. Too young to even comprehend. But I remember being happy having the privilege to wear such pretty gold earrings. I had the rest ...

Treats for My Skin Courtesy of Gluta

This is a long and overdue post about the free facial and diamond peel given by the lovely people of Gluta. I am not the one to get facials because I am not comfortable getting under someone else's hands. (This is the reason why I keep on coming back to the same hairstylist). But this is free so might as well try it. (Who doesn't want free stuff anyway?) The event happened last month at Gluta booth, Robinsons Manila. This is part of the launch of their Gluta White and Firm line, which according to the lady, the first product line that was able to produce all whitening products in just one launch (facial wash, lotion, soap, moisturizer, etc.) Gluta Advance White and Firm Products Now back to the facial, they first remove my makeup with a cleanser, then they further cleaned my whole face with another cleanser. Then, they also used a vacuum to further remove deep-seated dirt from my face. That vacuum felt like some kid was giving me little kisses. It did not hur...

Wedding Bliss: The Importance of Wedding Coordinator (Quintessence Philippines)

I am quite surprised that even after being married for almost a year now, I still get a ton of queries regarding wedding details and such. One common question I get is this: "Do I really need a wedding day coordinator?". My answer is always, always this big YES. Well, based on my experience, you can get away without an over-all full wedding coordinator because you can do the planning alone. However- and very important, I must say, that you get an on-the-day-coordinator . And please do get a legit one, not your friends or family, but a professional wedding coor. (Your friends want to enjoy the moment, too, so please don't give them yet another job to do. They can assist you in little things, but please leave everything to a legit coor.) Some reasons why I think a professional on-the-day wedding coordinator is a must: 1. Stress-free wedding.  The least I wanted to be during my wedding is to be the stressed-bride. I have been to weddings without coordinators and I tell...

Revlon Stormy Pink

This is gonna be short and sweet just to make up for a long blogging hiatus. I don’t have much luck when it comes to pink lipstick. It’s either wrong shade or wrong formula. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Stormy Pink is no exemption. A friend gave this to me and the color was love at first sight. It was purple-ish, Barbie-like pink tone. But then, after getting a bit tanner because of summer, it ain't BFF with my morena skin tone. Wearing this makes me feel like Nikki Minaj (Boom boorooom boom base!!!). But I think, this is perfect for girls who have pale skin or fairer skin . The formula is just so off. It’s sticky, but not pigmented, and it keeps on sliding on my lips as if I am using a cheap brand lipstick. (To tell you honestly, I am not considering Revlon as a drugstore brand because  it is a bit pricey here in the Philippines.) It has a matte formula so for all you glossy-haters out there, this one's for you. As for me, matte lipsticks are too dr...

Review: In2it Waterproof Single Blush in Charm

This post is dedicated to my boyfriend's sister who loves to rave about in2it products. She loves the brand so much she's literally into it. (Can I get an A for that intro?) Anyways, one of the things I noticed about her is the beautiful shine she has on her cheeks - not greasy type of shine - but a lovely flash of highlight. So, I thought of trying out in2it's blush for the first time. When I went there, most of their blushes were sold out. The sales assistant said their blushes are their best sellers- no doubt about it. So, I asked her what shade can she recommend for my skin tone and she confidently suggested the shade "Charm." I tried out some of their blushes, pink ones in general, but Charm really stood out for me. The sales assistant was right, Charm definitely suites me better. In2it Waterproof Single Blush in Charm is a peach blush with gold shimmers. I, for one, am afraid of shimmers because my face tends to become very oily and to add more shi...

EOS Lip Balm, Overrated?

I was looking at old photos in my computer and I saw these cute pictures of EOS Lipbalm and I remembered how much I love this product but I shelved it for various reasons. EOS and I had some good times, you know. I enjoyed the days when kissing it feels fruity on my lips. But then, I have slowly fallen out of love from it. It wasn't because it was a horrible product but because it didn't last on me and I think there’s so many lip balms out there that offers better service than just cute packaging and fruity taste.  Let me give you the details of our love story. This product became popular last year because of its cute packaging. So many beauty gurus raved about it but lately, it has been categorized under overrated product list. (Source) It got me into thinking if EOS lip balm is really an overrated product. Why did I shelved this product anyway? I remembered it was a year ago when I got my EOS lip balm in strawberry sorbet. Believe you me, I was so freaki...

Curly Find: Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse

Living in a country where straight hair rules, finding a good styling product for the curly hair is such a pain in the ey-ess-ess. For the past few months, I've been experimenting on different hair products, mixing and jumbling all sorts of creams, mousse, gels, etc etc. Product after product, layers after layers.  I honestly sometimes feel like going back to straight hair is way easier and economical, than spending so much money on hair products, but then I do love my current buhahag hairstyle- I feel some sense of uniqueness and personality with this kind of hair- so I think I wold just go on with this journey and just enjoy every part of it. So, today, I thought I would share my experience with this Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse.  This is by far, my favorite mousse cream for my curly hair. Let me tell you some of my opinions regarding this product.  1. SMELL - Oh. Goodness. I love the smell of this one right out of the can. This is...
