Marvellous Man's Choice: The Face Shop BL601

I have a story to tell about The Face Shop BL601 nail polish from their Lovely Me Ex Nail Polish Line.

While we were at The Face Shop SM North branch, I asked Marvellous Man to choose a nail polish color for me. Being a guy, he chose a dark navy blue nail polish. I tested the color on his fingernail. I wasn’t into blue nail polish at that time so I didn’t buy it (I bought The Face Shop RD 3033 instead).

But then, I keep on thinking of that beautiful blue nail polish and I told myself I must definitely go back and buy it.

The Face Shop BL601 in all its glory...

So, after a month or so, Marvellous Man and I went back to The Face Shop store. I again tested the color of BL601 on his fingernail just to see the color once again. By this time, I fell in love. I took one bottle and went straight ahead to the counter to finally own this lovely polish.

Then, after two days, I went to Marvellous Man’s place, and he was doing his laundry. (Yes, men do their laundry, too). Being his Marvellous Woman, I helped him finish his laundry even though there’s only four pieces of clothes left.  I was very reluctant to help him because I have just put on BL601 on my nails. I helped him anyways.

When we were finally done and just hanging the laundry in the clothesline, Marvelous Man told me this.  “No matter what I do, I can't peel off this nail polish, I really need acetone to remove this. I did all these laundry and it is still on my nail. ” (Now that's a statement!) I then checked on my nails and my polish is indeed still intact, no chipping whatsoever.

I took this photo on the third day and my polish is still awesome even after a pile of dirty laundry duty.
The Face Shop BL601 on its third day resting on my nails, still fine and shiny

Aside from lasting power of this nail polish, this polish is also commendable for its shine even without a top coat. The reason for this is the gel-like formula that creates a beautiful shine to the polish. Marvellous Man said so himself that this nail polish is quite shiny compared to the other polish. (He is talking about RD303 which I also tried on his nail when I bought it last month.) He told me this because he is quite embarrassed wearing this polish because it is a bit ostentatious.

Since it has a gel-like formula, application can be a little tricky. See the photo above and you will notice the polish is quite thin near the cuticle while it is a bit thick on the tips. This is because it is hard to control this kind of formula so I suggest you let the first coat dry first before applying the second coat. Apply two normal coats, too thin or too thick coats might cause you some problems in application.

This is a beautiful navy blue that can be worn everyday, everywhere. This is not over-the-top blue but it's still gorgeous on its own way. This would fit a lot of skin tones so if you are looking for a nice blue-ish nail polish, this would definitely suit you.

The Face Shop BL601 TFS' Lovely Me Ex Nail Polish costs 100 each.

That's all for this story and until my nail of the day post, hopefully with Marvellous Man again.

Till next time,

Bye!

TURNING PAGES: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

When I was in kindergarten, I had a hard time understanding Math specifically the lesson in  “greater than- less than-equal to” equations. My mother, being a teacher, helped me understand the lesson by using analogy . In a manner of storytelling, she told me that the sign corresponding greater than/less than/equal to is  Pacman  (the famous computer game back then), while the numbers in the equation represent the amount of apples . She told me I have to point Pacman’s mouth to the larger amount so he can eat more apples. I never failed at greater than/less than/equal to lesson ever again. It is composed of analogies and stories that helped me understand the wisdom behind success. It will not tell you what to do, it will ask you to analyze the roots of success and w...

My PIERCINGS- Accidents, Stories, Reasons.. etc.

Elow elow elow Dear Reader! So, today, I bought new set of earrings and I realized, I haven't really talked about my piercing experience. So, I thought maybe I should answer some common questions about my piercings and piercing in general. How many piercings do you have? As of the moment, I have a total of six individual piercings. Three on the left ear, three on the right. When did you get them and why? 1. The first pair was done when I was four or five years old. I remember my father bringing me to a little health center and telling me to just tilt my head and that was it. I don't have much to say about this piercing because it was like a "default" kind of thing - sort of a tradition or one of those mandatory things a girl has to go through-  so nothing special in this pair. Also, I was too young to remember how it felt like. Too young to even comprehend. But I remember being happy having the privilege to wear such pretty gold earrings. I had the rest ...

Jazzy Collections Eyebrow Gel

I was doing a little stroll along beauty section when the sales assistant asked me, "Ma'am, ano pong nilagay niyo sa kilay nio, ang ganda kasi e, sanay na sanay kayo magkilay..." "Maam, what product did you use on your eyebrows? You are really good on doing your brows!"  Truth is, I wasn't always this good with brows. I had my fair share of uneven brows, messy brows, overplucked, bushy, wrong shape, wrong curves. But by having those mistakes, I learned how to perfect my brows, I learned by doing, which I think is one of the most important thing when it comes to make-up. You learn every single time you do it. I still do mistakes from time to time, and I am still improving every single day, but I guess that's just the beauty of make-up. Sometimes, you've created a masterpiece, sometimes, you've created a trash... in that way, you enhance your skills. Okay, did I just became very sentimental about eyebrows? Yes, I did. Anyways,  ...

On Self-Acceptance

It was late September when I started "Marvellous Much." For two months, I labored myself from taking photos to writing to editing and then publishing. I took this as my own, my baby, my little sanctuary. Although I've done several blogs before, this is the first time I have ever done a blog that is somehow commercial and is focusing on a certain niche. I aim to create a professional blog on this one, something that I can give to the world. Every now and then, before I click the "publish" button, I would see myself stepping back and forth. I know I doubt myself so much. I always see myself as not good enough. Every time I would go public, things scream unto my head - words such as "what will they think of my work?" "Is this great?" "Will the people like it?" I hate this thing about myself. When you lack confidence, you lack strength. I hate myself for this. I hate that I sometimes hate myself. However, for the past two months, wi...

BDJ FAIR 2015

This is my third time to go to this yearly event hosted by BDJ. First time, I went with a friend (Well, hello Ghem!). The next one, boyfie was with me. This time, I decided to just go by myself . I tried to maximize the event so I spent the whole afternoon going from one booth to another. I also pre-registered to two talks/seminars to get an insight or two. If you haven't heard of them yet, BDJ is a community of empowered bellas. Actually, it all started with a kikay planner- The Belle de jour Power planner. Then a community was formed involving mostly users of planners and  kikay girls alike. As for me, I've been a BDJ planner user for five years. I go to the event (if time allows me to) because this is where I can buy the new and upcoming planner in a much lower price compared to its selling price. I bought my new planner for only 500 pesos as opposed to its original selling price of 580. Also, the event is actually pretty cool. You can go around, win some fu...

Pieces of My Month March

Happy Tuesday everyone! I have just realized that the first quarter of 2014 have passed and I am loving my year so far. There are times when I wish I could have done more but I guess it's better to give myself a pat on the back and celebrate my successes rather than being too harsh on myself. Sometimes, I tend to forget I can only do enough. First week of March, I was able to celebrate Fat Tuesday with my church friends. Fat Tuesday, if you have no idea what it is, is  the day before Ash Wednesday--the start of Lenten season.  Since Fat Tuesday is the day before fasting and abstinence, devout Catholics are having a merry gathering of food and laughter before pursuing a month of sacrifice and soul-searching.   Aside from the beginning of Lenten season, March also marks the start of summer. I had an early summer with my friends at Bakas River, Norzagaray, Bulacan. The place is such a marvellous tranquil, perfect for escaping the urban life. . ...

Marvellous Monday

I know that Mondays are always greeted with a sigh, especially with most business people, because it is the start of a life battle called "workweek." However, today, I would like to change it a bit by starting a gratitude list pertaining to my previous week full of blessings. This is not bragging since last week is far from being perfect, but I promise myself to stay positive no matter what so I am helping myself to see the beauty rather than contemplate on scars. Payday on  a weekend Road Trip to Marilao, Bulacan Meeting a wonderful author/ Math teacher New bracelet and new top and new earrings (Yey for shopping!) Donuts for my family (Yey for pasalubong!) Coming home with empty laundry basket Very stressful week - purposeful life Sinigang sa miso (panga) at Guilligan's  Going to mass SM Hopping  Farting Partying at Karaoke Hub Little chat with Mama and Kuya Susie's text for me to be Kekay's make-up artist on Saturday Finally seeing ...
