Wedding Bliss: Catholic Wedding @ San Juan dela Cruz Parish

June is known to be the wedding month and I think there's a little truth to that because I personally have been to two weddings in this month alone- and it's only June 10 as I type this. I heard it's because June was coined after the Goddess of Love, Juno.

So, in lieu of this wedding season, I thought of doing a Wedding Series called Wedding Bliss where I talk about our suppliers when we got married April last year and some other wedding pointers.

I will first start with our Wedding Church, which is San Juan dela Cruz Parish in Valenzuela City. This church is a default choice because this is where me and my husband met (both of us are in music ministry) so if not for this church, I wouldn't have met my husband. Also, serving in this church for almost a decade made it not just a place of worship, but a second home to us, too. All our friends are also parishioners from SJDC, including our Parish Priest, Father Mulong, who is also the presiding priest during our wedding. With all that being said, I couldn't see myself getting married in any church other than SJDCP.

Aside from SJDCP being our second home, I also love how this church organize and handle wedding ceremonies. There are Mother Butlers who are kind enough to assist the couple on what to do. They also have a choir every wedding so the couple don't have to worry about bringing their own group of singers. It also have this beautiful door so Brides have the chance to have a grand entrance.

During out wedding, what I like most of all, is how Father Mulong gave his sermon. Laid-back at the start with a little humorous Q and A portion with the couple, while getting a little more serious and emotional at the middle, and then ending the sermon with something people can ponder upon. Some of our guests commend how beautiful his sermon was during our wedding. One of my friends even told me that we had such a beautiful wedding ceremony.

I am so happy I got married in my dream church- the place where I found the love of my life, where I grew up to become a mature Christian, and where I met my lovely friends who witnessed our love story.

Treats for My Skin Courtesy of Gluta

This is a long and overdue post about the free facial and diamond peel given by the lovely people of Gluta. I am not the one to get facials because I am not comfortable getting under someone else's hands. (This is the reason why I keep on coming back to the same hairstylist). But this is free so might as well try it. (Who doesn't want free stuff anyway?) The event happened last month at Gluta booth, Robinsons Manila. This is part of the launch of their Gluta White and Firm line, which according to the lady, the first product line that was able to produce all whitening products in just one launch (facial wash, lotion, soap, moisturizer, etc.) Gluta Advance White and Firm Products Now back to the facial, they first remove my makeup with a cleanser, then they further cleaned my whole face with another cleanser. Then, they also used a vacuum to further remove deep-seated dirt from my face. That vacuum felt like some kid was giving me little kisses. It did not hur...

Curly Find: Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse

Living in a country where straight hair rules, finding a good styling product for the curly hair is such a pain in the ey-ess-ess. For the past few months, I've been experimenting on different hair products, mixing and jumbling all sorts of creams, mousse, gels, etc etc. Product after product, layers after layers.  I honestly sometimes feel like going back to straight hair is way easier and economical, than spending so much money on hair products, but then I do love my current buhahag hairstyle- I feel some sense of uniqueness and personality with this kind of hair- so I think I wold just go on with this journey and just enjoy every part of it. So, today, I thought I would share my experience with this Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse.  This is by far, my favorite mousse cream for my curly hair. Let me tell you some of my opinions regarding this product.  1. SMELL - Oh. Goodness. I love the smell of this one right out of the can. This is...

AT LEAST I CAN STILL SEE: Living Life through Amblyopia

All my life, people thought I am just banlag (squint) or someone who has a scar on her right eye. What some people do not know exactly is that I am almost blind. After thousands of eye tests to different ophthalmologists and optometrists, mine is a rare condition called Amblyopia (also known as lazy eye) coupled with color-blindness. Let us first start with my right eye. If you will look closely into my cornea, it has this white scar that originated by birth. If I will only use my right eye and let my left eye be closed, I will see everything in blur. Because of an inborn scar, there is a small white cast blocking my right eye, I cannot see the details of an image. I only see a vision, a blur, a shape. For example, if there is a calendar in front of me, looking only through my right eye, I would only see a white rectangle with dots and some lines. Imagine watching TV with white sheer cloth in front of your eyes-- that's the perspective of my right eye. God must have pi...

My Pabebe Waves

My Pabebe Waves -- and I am not even talking about #aldub. (Sorry for the pun, I am just a fan! Oh- it rhymes! Silly me.) Anyways, I am referring to my curls and how I respond to their "pabebe" nature. You see, ever since I decided to just let my curly hair shine through, I've been getting a lot of questions as to whether I had a perm . They're a bit shocked when I answer them with a resounding "NO" and revealing them of the truth I have once concealed...that is,  I am born with curly hair. I admit I hated my curls before. I was one of those traditional Filipina who has the feels for long black straight hair (blame it on shampoo commercials.) So, for more than ten years, I did my best to conceal my curls by diligently going to the salon to have my hair rebonded. I have become successful in hiding my own curls. You see, I did deceive the people around me, even my boyfriend. This is a selfie I took a day before I chop my hair off. At this poi...

Cover Girl Brow and Eye Makers in Midnight Brown

My Mama and I have this morning bonding routine that I think is common among mother-daughter tandem. I, being the make-up artist in our home, and she, being the senior gal, use make-up as a tool to connect, which I think is intimate and literally face to face. My usual assignment is to literally draw her eyebrows and sometimes we get a laugh or two whenever I miss the mark. One of the tools that I often use for her eyebrows (and mine as well) is an eyebrow pencil. I know that wax and powders are the best when it comes to filling up the eyebrows but they can be to sheer and time-consuming, so I ought to stick on pencils. My current favorite is the Cover Girl Brow and Eye Makers because it fills the brows naturally and smoothly. Mine is the color midnight brown and it is the perfect shade for my hair color. It has a waxy texture so you may use this as a base if you love to use powder for a more filled eyebrows. It c omes with a sharpener  but I don't think it's any good ...
