BDJ FAIR 2015

This is my third time to go to this yearly event hosted by BDJ. First time, I went with a friend (Well, hello Ghem!). The next one, boyfie was with me. This time, I decided to just go by myself .

I tried to maximize the event so I spent the whole afternoon going from one booth to another. I also pre-registered to two talks/seminars to get an insight or two.

If you haven't heard of them yet, BDJ is a community of empowered bellas. Actually, it all started with a kikay planner- The Belle de jour Power planner. Then a community was formed involving mostly users of planners and  kikay girls alike.

As for me, I've been a BDJ planner user for five years. I go to the event (if time allows me to) because this is where I can buy the new and upcoming planner in a much lower price compared to its selling price. I bought my new planner for only 500 pesos as opposed to its original selling price of 580.

Also, the event is actually pretty cool. You can go around, win some fun games, shop with discounts. You can listen to different talks and get freebies.

Anyway, let me just tell you what I did in this fun-filled event.

Oh, btw, I went there alone because I haven't had the time to invite my friends and my bf has other commitments so yah. Forever alone, but still a  happy gal. Alone doesn't mean unhappy after all.

I arrived around 3pm, just in time to breathe before my pre-scheduled talk at 4pm. I immediately bought my planner which is basically the main reason why I went there. Then, I walked around just to see what's happening and I was invited by one of the Bellas to give BDJ a video message. After giving one, I then asked her to take a picture of me in return. I stood beside 2015 planner poster, which is by the way my favorite cover out of all BDJ planners. (The second one would have to be the Paris girl.)

Then I claimed my lootbag which has A LOT of free stuff in it! Cool right?

Then, I wrote on their bulletin board which is also my favorite thing to do in the fair. I almost run out of space because I came in late afternoon and the board is almost filled!

Then, when I realized they are letting pre-registered bellas can already enter the seminar, I went on to find myself a sit.

I pre-registered for "Embrace yourself" with Miss Divine Lee and Flawless representative. I am not really big with skin care so I learned a lot from this talk. I now know I should do a 360 degree effort in my skin care regime (that is, if I have any.)

After the talk, I saw this roulette so I went in line to play it. I think I won a discount voucher. I also got a free cotton candy from Havaianas! Happy kiddo!

The most interesting happened when I went to Palmistry. The palm reader was surprisingly ON POINT. I was so shocked when he told me a little guess about myself, and he was pretty accurate. Mind you, I'm not really that superstitious but I was floored. It was as if he knew me or something.

Anyways,  I will just keep whatever forecast he told about my life. but I am happy to share he told me I will have a long one.

After that palmistry thing, I went to different photoboots held by Jergens and Wacoal. I don't have anyone to take my picture with so I took advantage of these free photoboots.

I also spent an ample amount of time at Pink Sugar cosmetics.  They were having this free makeover session so I thought of falling in line just to try. Also, I really want to see how other makeup artists do makeup in other people. I learned a couple of tricks actually.

Then, I went on to my second scheduled seminar "Flaunt Your Style" with Miss Karen Ostrea. Oh goodness, I LEARNED EFFIN A LOT from this woman about fashion sense. She talked about how to create your own image, how to handle yourself, how to know your body shape, how to dress your body shape, etc. etc. She even let us examine ourselves physically to really know our body shape. I enjoyed her talk so so so so so much! And I am not a even a huge fashionista to begin with.

Then, my phone battery just died on me. ARGGG! I wasn't able to take photo of the Belly Dancers, the beatbox guy, and the TGIFridays Bartenders who gave different performances just before the night end.

The event concluded around 8pm. I got home around 11, I think. (Traffic pa more!)

I was tired but happy. Alone but overwhelmed.

These are all the FREEBIES I got from the fair!!! WAAAAHHH!!!

AND OF COURSE, MY NEW PLANNER
(Will do a separate blogpost about this planner)

One happy bella just before lights out.

And off to my dreamland...

TURNING PAGES: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

When I was in kindergarten, I had a hard time understanding Math specifically the lesson in  “greater than- less than-equal to” equations. My mother, being a teacher, helped me understand the lesson by using analogy . In a manner of storytelling, she told me that the sign corresponding greater than/less than/equal to is  Pacman  (the famous computer game back then), while the numbers in the equation represent the amount of apples . She told me I have to point Pacman’s mouth to the larger amount so he can eat more apples. I never failed at greater than/less than/equal to lesson ever again. It is composed of analogies and stories that helped me understand the wisdom behind success. It will not tell you what to do, it will ask you to analyze the roots of success and what lies behind the equation

Kulot Not Salot: My Curly Hair Routine

I'm still surprised when friends won't believe when I tell them my hair is naturally curly and that I never had a digi perm or any curling method done. People have been seeing me with rebonded straight hair for the past 12 years, (I thought it was only 10) and they have kind of believed my hair is naturally straight. And frankly, I, too, have forgotten how I looked like with curly hair. I have to rummage a box of old photos to help me remember how my curls looked like a decade ago and why do I even have it straightened. Was it that bad? After almost an hour of looking for old photos of my natural curls- this I realized to my chagrin - I rarely wore my curly hair down when I was a teenager. That was basically the reason why I had my hair rebonded. I did not know what to do with my curls. I did not know how to maximize my curls, its beauty, how to style it, how to play with it. And also- hair entails personality. You see, living in this country,

Review: In2it Waterproof Single Blush in Charm

This post is dedicated to my boyfriend's sister who loves to rave about in2it products. She loves the brand so much she's literally into it. (Can I get an A for that intro?) Anyways, one of the things I noticed about her is the beautiful shine she has on her cheeks - not greasy type of shine - but a lovely flash of highlight. So, I thought of trying out in2it's blush for the first time. When I went there, most of their blushes were sold out. The sales assistant said their blushes are their best sellers- no doubt about it. So, I asked her what shade can she recommend for my skin tone and she confidently suggested the shade "Charm." I tried out some of their blushes, pink ones in general, but Charm really stood out for me. The sales assistant was right, Charm definitely suites me better. In2it Waterproof Single Blush in Charm is a peach blush with gold shimmers. I, for one, am afraid of shimmers because my face tends to become very oily and to add more shi

Inspired by Mona Lisa Smile: Christian Dior Rouge Dolce Vita 014

Once a gay friend told me, "Red lipstick is so back then." I immediately replied back and told him a true lady would say otherwise. For a real woman, red lipstick is a timeless weapon to look and feel beautiful. My first lipstick is a red one and up until now, even if I have other shades of lipsticks, red will always be on my stash. So, today, I thought of highlighting the most precious red lipstick I own, my precious baby,  Christian Dior’s Rouge Dolce Vita in #014. Timeless as it is, the inspiration for today's lipstick is the movie The Mona Lisa Smile which is set in 1950's. Just like the girls in the movie,  Christian Dior’s Rouge Dolce Vita in #014 is not in-your-face retro red lipstick because it has a slight hint of orange. Source "That's a snapshot"- Mona Lisa Smile It has a semi-matte finish but very creamy, it glides smoothly on the lips when applied. This is not for the faint heart because it is too striking and

Curly Find: Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse

Living in a country where straight hair rules, finding a good styling product for the curly hair is such a pain in the ey-ess-ess. For the past few months, I've been experimenting on different hair products, mixing and jumbling all sorts of creams, mousse, gels, etc etc. Product after product, layers after layers.  I honestly sometimes feel like going back to straight hair is way easier and economical, than spending so much money on hair products, but then I do love my current buhahag hairstyle- I feel some sense of uniqueness and personality with this kind of hair- so I think I wold just go on with this journey and just enjoy every part of it. So, today, I thought I would share my experience with this Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse.  This is by far, my favorite mousse cream for my curly hair. Let me tell you some of my opinions regarding this product.  1. SMELL - Oh. Goodness. I love the smell of this one right out of the can. This is the best-

Honeymoon in Palawan: Bakers Hill, Buttterfly Garden, Immaculate Conception Cathedral

So, after two days spent in El Nido Tour A , Tour C , and the ever famous Underground River, we continue our Palawan escapade via our rented motorcycle. After Mitra's Ranch , we went to Baker's Hill, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, and Butterfly Garden.  This is one of the several posts I made about our Trip to Palawan. Here are the links to other posts for your convenience: El Nido Tour A El Nido Tour C Underground River Mitra's Ranch Bakers Hill, Butterfly Garden and Tribal Village, Immaculate Conception Cathedral Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center Palawan Museum and Plaza Cuartel BAKER'S HILL When we were at Baker's Hill, I was kind of wondering why it's called as such because it looked like a park and not a bakery. Later did I know that it is actually a theme park with bakery inside.  BUTTERFLY GARDEN One of my favorite attractions in Puerto Princesa, Butterfly Garden is the home to hundre

Pray for the Philippines

I am not so much of a patriotic kind but the recent devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan led me to care about my country, the Philippines. We weren't directly hit by the storm surge since we are living far from Tacloban City but I felt really involved in this massive tragedy. Days before Yolanda came, different warnings were announced regarding the typhoon. We were told to keep safe. I also remembered listening to different guidelines on how to survive the typhoon. November 8 came, it was a Friday. I've read from social media sites that Yolanda officially entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. There were heavy rains here in Manila but it wasn't too strong to kill a person but I've seen some "personal" videos posted on the Internet on how strong the typhoon was in other parts of the country. I got scared. The next morning, weather in Manila was perfect. It was windy and sunny at the same time. I remembered staying in our terrace and
